Obituary of Ron Jenkins

A funeral service for Ron Jenkins will be held Thursday, October 5, 2023 at 11:00 AM at First Presbyterian Church in Spirit Lake. Burial will be at Lakeview Gardens Cemetery. A visitation for Ron will be on Wednesday, October 4th from 5:00-7:00 PM at Turner Jenness Funeral Home in Spirit Lake.

Ronald Dean Jenkins, a beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, passed away on October 1, 2023, at his home in Milford, Iowa. He was born on August 5, 1937, in Marian, Iowa, to James and Lavonia (Ulrich) Jenkins.

Ron had a great love for family, a passion for craftsmanship and a deep-rooted connection to the community. He was united in marriage to Jacqueline L. Moriston.

Throughout his life, Ron had a passion for collecting farm toys and trucks, working on older cars and trucks and creating things from scratch. His ability to figure out how to make anything was truly remarkable. Ron also had a deep love for construction, showcasing his talents through various projects over the years. Ron was a proud member of the JayCees during his time in Kansas.

Ron's diverse career spanned a range of professions, reflecting his industrious and hardworking nature. He worked at a filling station, owned Pizza Huts, the US Postal Service, KMart, Deerland in the early 80’s and was part of the original crew at Dickinson County Memorial Hospital Ambulance Crew, also working hospital maintenance. He lent his expertise to companies like Rossow & Rosner Construction, Citation Homes, Shopper Supply, Cycle Country and Okoboji Classic Cars. He also oversaw the First Presbyterian Church building.

Ron is survived by his wife, Jackie Jenkins of Milford; his daughter, Kristen (Michael) Martin; sons, Kevin Jenkins and Kenton Jenkins; granddaughters, Megan (Brian) Weide and Maddy (David) Render; great-grandson, Theo and great-granddaughter, Eleanor. He is also survived by sister-in-law, Cheryl (Ken) Mager and brother-in-law Keith (Roxie) Moriston, as well as three nieces, one nephew, two great-nephews and three great-nieces.

Ron was preceded in death by his parents Lavonia and James Jenkins, and nephew, Boe Moriston.

Ron's legacy lives on through the love and memories he shared with family and friends. He will be deeply missed and remembered for his generous spirit and dedication to those he loved and the community he served.
