Obituary of Darlene Hartmann

A Funeral Service for Darlene Hartmann, age 91, of Lake Park will be held on Saturday, October 14, 2023 at 11:00am at Concordia Lutheran Church in Lake Park. Interment will be at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Spirit Lake. Visitation will take place prior to the service from 10:00-11:00am at the church. 

Darlene passed away October 5, 2023 at Aspire Care Center in Lake Park.

Darlene Sophia Hartmann was born to Edward and Sophia (Buelow) Rusch at Watertown, South Dakota  on September 3, 1932. She graduated in 1951 from the Sioux Valley High School in Sioux Vally, Minnesota.  She was employed at the Worthington Municipal Hospital in Worthington for two and a half years. On  October 21, 1952, she was united in marriage to Harold Hartmann and to this union two children were  born, Craig and Marcia. While her husband was in the Navy for four years, she lived in San Diego, California  and Astoria, Oregon for two and a half years. The couple farmed east of Lake Park for 42 years until they  purchased a house in Lake Park. Darlene enjoyed assisting her husband with the farming operation,  gardening, bird watching, and traveling to 47 states, Canada, Mexico, and the Hawaiian Islands.  

Darlene is survived by her son, Craig (Tammy) Hartmann; daughter, Marcia Heuer; brothers: Larry Rusch,  Verlin (Barbara) Rusch, Dennis (Mavis) Rusch; grandchildren: Amy (Alex) Wax, Michael (Lexi) Heuer, Kayla (Jeremy)  Updike, Shawnia Silverthorn, Seth (Emily) Bowen, Sarek (Brooke) Hartmann, Sean (Katie Gildersleeve)  Hartmann; great-grandchildren: Kierstin, Neviah, Hadley, Dustin, Raelee, Brecken, Brux, Liam, Addyson, Theron,  Aria, Finnick, and Roarke.  

Darlene was preceded in death by her husband, Harold; parents, Edward and Sophia Rusch; sister, Gloria;  sister-in-law, Jean; and son-in-law, Craig.
