Obituary of Eric Avery

A funeral service for Eric Avery, 54, of Spirit Lake will be held Saturday, September 30, 2017 at 10:30 AM at First Presbyterian Church in Spirit Lake. Visitation will be on Friday, September 29th after 5:00 PM with the family present from 5:00-7:00 PM at Turner Jenness Funeral Home in Spirit Lake. Eric passed away Sunday, September 24, 2017 at his home in Spirit Lake. Up to two weeks before he succumbed to brain cancer, he drove truck for his uncle, Keith Hagedorn. Eric started driving a gravel truck when he was thirteen years old and loved doing so. He had an amazing mechanical mind. Eric was a gentle, loving man. He loved his parents and his sisters but most of all, he loved his four children and his grandchildren. He was proud of his family's many accomplishments. He is survived by his parents, James and Marlene Avery of Spirit Lake; his sisters, Cheryl Waltman of Okoboji and Lisa Kaminska of Spirit Lake; children, Jesse (Heather) Avery of Lake Park, Erica (Jay) Avery of Lake Park, Tara (Noah) Scinta of San Diego, California and Lacy (Kyle) Snyder of Spirit Lake. He is also survived by nine grandchildren, Austin, Holly, Savanna, Alivia, Ava, Aden, Marra, Owen and Oliver; uncle and aunt, Keith and Karla Hagedorn of Spirit Lake. Eric was preceded in death by his grandparents, Roy and Mabel Avery and Art and Katherine Hagedorn, all of Spirit Lake. Eric will be dearly missed by many friends and relatives.
