Obituary of Jerry Roskammer

Jerome Alan Roskammer was born March 9, 1938 in Cherokee, Iowa, the son of Lester and Cora (Schallau) Roskammer. In his early years, Jerry attended grade school in Calumet. He graduated from Arnolds Park High School in 1957. Jerry was united in marriage to Mary Jo (Lohrmann) Trebbien at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Milford on October 6, 1979. The couple made their home in Wahpeton. Jerry started working for the Iowa Conservation Commission (later renamed the Iowa Department of Natural Resources) during high school and remained there for over 35 years. He started in the Fisheries and Parks departments and later became a Game Warden and Lake Patrol Officer. He also served on the Lakes Region Sanitary District. Jerry was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Milford, where he was active in Knights of Columbus. During his spare time he enjoyed woodworking, wine making, hunting, fishing, gardening, and coin collecting. He was also a member of Ducks Unlimited and Pheasants Forever. Jerry passed away Wednesday, February 29, 2012 at Hilltop Care Center in Spirit Lake at seventy-three years of age. Jerry is survived by his step-son, Michael Trebbien, his wife, Jolene and their children Kyle and Leo, all of Charles City, Iowa; as well as other family and a host of friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Jo and his parents.
