Obituary of Gary Widdel

Gary Robert Widdel was born July 3, 1942 in Armstrong, Iowa, the son of Duane and Geraldine (Opsal) Widdel. He graduated from Fenton Central High School in 1960. Gary was baptized and confirmed in the Methodist Church in Fenton, Iowa. On September 4, 1965, Gary was united in marriage to Sandra Arlene Jansen in Fairmont, Minnesota. They lived in Spirit Lake, Ankeny and Mason City, Iowa and then moved to Savage, Minnesota and lived there for twenty-nine years. In 2007, they moved to Round Lake, Minnesota to be close to family. Gary loved to hunt and fish and was an active member of Round Lake Sportsman Club until his illness. He also loved doing wood working in his shop and playing cards with family and friends. Gary passed away from lung cancer March 27, 2012 at his home in Round Lake at sixty-nine years of age. He is survived by his wife of forty-six years, Sandra; one sister, Patricia Rohfeld of Okoboj, Iowa; brothers-in-law, Stanley (Kay) Jansen of Sibley, Iowa and Marlo Jansen (fiancé, Sherry Dietrich) of Harris, Iowa; nephews, Ryan Rohfeld of Okoboji and James (Kim) Jansen of Tecumseh, Nebraska; nieces, Julie (Michael) Steichen of Sibley, Iowa and Peggy Daigle of Foristell, Missouri; six great-nieces and three great-nephews. Gary was preceded in death by his parents, Duane and Geraldine Widdel.
