Obituary of Bessie Umscheid

Bessie Rae Umscheid was born December 15, 1930 to James Lang and Mary (Pierce) Bazemore in Windsor, North Carolina. On November 18, 1951 Bessie was united in marriage to Robert Joseph Umscheid in Windsor, North Carolina where Bessie enjoyed being a homemaker. They have lived in Milford since 1952. Bessie was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church where she was involved in Catholic Daughters of America. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary #384. She enjoyed spending time with her family, cooking for their get togethers, attending her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren's events, bingo, crocheting. She was also a big Chicago Cubs fan. Everyone loved Bob and Bess' peanut brittle. Bessie passed away Thursday, April 26, 2012 at the Milford Nursing Center at eighty-one years of age. Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Bob; children, Debbie (Kelly) Blunt from Oskaloosa, Iowa, Mick (Bonnie) Umscheid from Milford, Iowa, Ed (Susan) Umscheid from Spencer, Iowa, Diane Holmen from Waterloo, Illinois, Donna (fiancée, Ryan) Clark from Spirit Lake, Iowa, Dan (Cindy) Umscheid from Waterloo, Illinois, many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sister, Helen (George) Copeland from Windsor, North Carolina; brother, Roy (Esther) Bazemore from Windsor, North Carolina. Bessie was preceded in death by her infant daughter, Denise; infant son, Bobby Joe, Great-Granddaughter, Brooke Duvall; brothers, Jessie, Jimmy, Cecil and Bill Bazemore and her parents. A memorial fund has been established in Bessie's name.
