Obituary of Mabel Carr

Mabel O. Carr was born on May 19, 1910 to Emma Elizabeth Traver Jones and Minor Marvin Jones in Dickinson County, Milford Township, Iowa. She received her early education in Dickinson and Clay County, graduating from Spencer High School in 1928. She was a school teacher for three years, two years in the lower grades at Fostoria, Iowa. She was united in marriage to Eathiel A. Carr in 1933. They lived on the Carr farm for thirteen years before moving to Milford, Iowa where her husband was a partner in the Carr Chevrolet Co. Mabel was active in all of the women's organizations of the community. Throughout the years she served as County Chairman of the Milford Federated Women's Club, Church Guild President, Circle Chairman, as well as on the Hospital Auxiliary Board and was a Pink Lady at the hospital. Mabel was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and was Worthy Matron in 1943. She loved to read, raise flowers and do fancy work. She also enjoyed playing bridge, bowling and golf. Mrs. Carr passed away June 14, 2012 at the Milford Nursing Center at one hundred two years of age. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband; six brothers, Harley, Maurice, Glen, Clyde, Dale and Lee; three sisters, Lottie, Winnie and Lillian. She is survived by one sister-in-law, Iola Jones, and many nieces and nephews.
