Obituary of Phil Lemker

Phillip John Lemker, son of Archie and Ardis (Rohan) Lemker was born November 3, 1930 in Gillette, Wyoming. In 1949, Phil was enlisted in the United States Army and served as a Sergeant in the Signal Corps during the Korean War until receiving his Honorable Discharge in 1952. On November 20, 1956, Phil was united in marriage to Kay Kathleen Evans in Sibley, Iowa. He loved working on and racing snowmobiles, racing cars, target shooting, gold panning, coin collecting, working in his shop inventing and making metal works, reading and bird watching…all of this with his wife, children and grandchildren. He also enjoyed having cocktails on the deck with his friends. Phil has been a member of the Harris Lake Park School Board and Dickinson County SnowHawks Association. He worked as an electrician and also did sidedressing for CD Farm Service before he began farming full time in the late sixties. He worked as a deputy with the Dickinson County Sheriffs office until 1972. Phil passed away April 11, 2013 at his home in Lake Park, Iowa at eighty-two years of age. He is survived by his wife, Kay; children, Tony (Cindy) Lemker, Dawn (Ken) Woodford, Kathleen (Paul) Koch and Teresa Eakin; daughter-in-law, Jeri Lemker; fourteen grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild; brothers, Don (Carol) Lemker, Mike (Lucy) Lemker; sister, Louise Eckard. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Julia Doran and Myrtle (Loren) Tjaden; brothers, Robert Lemker and Joseph Lemker; son, Timothy Lemker; brother-in-law, Bob Eckard.
