Obituary of Marjorie Anderson

Marjorie Elaine Anderson was born April 20, 1928 in Grand Meadow, Minnesota, the daughter of Lowell Leslie Ross and Edith Van Gundy Ross. After graduating from Algona High School in 1946, Marjorie attended community college in both Des Moines, Iowa and Portland Oregon. On August 17, 1948, Marjorie married Wallace Anderson at the Methodist Church in Algona, Iowa. After a few years, Marjorie and her husband moved to Anchorage, Alaska. While there they adopted their son, Patrick, and after twelve years returned to northwest Iowa. Marjorie loved the water, fishing, crocheting, playing cards, children and pets, but most of all her family and friends. Marjorie and Wally lived forty years on Big Spirit Lake. There are many fond memories that are held in our hearts for the hospitality that was shared in their home with family and friends. Marjorie was active in the Spirit Lake Methodist Church and Eastern Star. She worked at Berkley's and First Bank & Trust before her retirement. Marjorie passed away January 5, 2011 at her home in Spirit Lake at eighty-two years of age. Marjorie is survived by her brother, Ray (Bonnie) Ross of Merced, California and many loved nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Wallace; son, Patrick Anderson; sisters, Shirley (Wallace) Larson and Doris (Roger) Satory; brother, Merle (Dorothy) Ross. The family would like to thank everyone for coming to celebrate Marjorie's life. She always appreciated the cards, flowers and encouraging words that were given to her while she was home bound. A special "thank you" goes out to the Matuskas, for their friendship they shared together for many years and who were always there to lend a helping hand. Marjorie…you will not be forgotten!
