Obituary of Maxine Lieb

Maxine Mildred Lieb was born February 7, 1915 in Spirit Lake, Iowa, the daughter of George Elbe and Dora Hazel Mitchell. She graduated from high school in Wessington, South Dakota and from beauty college in Des Moines, Iowa. On September 17, 1937, Maxine was united in marriage to Joseph Cornelius Lieb in Spirit Lake. Maxine owned and operated Maxine's Beauty Shop out of her home in Spirit Lake until she retired in 1988 at the age of 73. She and her husband, Joe, (Liebs Wood Products) were active members of the Spirit Lake business community for over fifty years. Maxine was a thoughtful, kind, loving and dignified woman who will be dearly missed. Maxine passed away February 20, 2011 at Hilltop Care Center in Spirit Lake, Iowa at ninety-six years of age. She is survived by three sons and their wives, Joel and Vicki Lieb of Centennial, Colorado, William and Jane Lieb of Spirit Lake, Bruce and Linda Lieb of Lakewood, Colorado; one granddaughter; seven grandsons; fourteen great-grandchildren; two brothers, Raymond (Ruth) Mitchell and Bruce Mitchell and a sister, Irene Manogue. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph; her parents and three brothers, George, Carlyle and Robert.
