Obituary of Lavina Dobson

Lavina Francis (Stolp) Dobson, born July 23, 1922 in Jackson County, Minnesota, to Frank and Elsie (Korht) Stolp. Lavina passed away at Spencer Hospital at the age of 88.

Lavina lived in and around the Lake Park area with her family. She was educated in the Lake Park and Excelcior school systems, completing 8th grade.

On March 9, 1948, Lavina married Everett Dobson. No children were born to this union. They lived on the family farm for a year, before moving to Spirit Lake where they lived until Everett's passing. In May, 2007, Lavina moved to the Milford Nursing Center where she remained until her death at the Spencer Hospital.

Lavina was a nurse's aide at the Spirit Lake Hospital, worked at a dry cleaners in Spirit Lake and Univac in Jackson, Minnesota until she retired. She and Everett enjoyed going to auto races and spent many weekends going to races at Brandon, South Dakota and Jackson, Minnesota, sponsoring the Jackson University of Okoboji night for many years. They enjoyed playing cards and being with friends. Lavina also enjoyed going to rummage sales and she bowled for many years. She was a lifetime member in both the Rebekah Lodge and VFW Auxiliary, serving in office capacity. She belonged to the Presbyterian Church in Spirit Lake and was a circle member.

Lavina is preceded in death by her husband, Everett, in 2003; her parents, Frank and Elsie Stolp; her stepmother, Minnie (Langfeldt) Stolp; two brothers, Earnest and Delbert; two sisters, Thelma King and Elaine Wilson; two brothers-in-law, Harvey and Elmer Dobson; a nephew, Randy Dobson.

Lavina is survived by nephews, Darwin (Sandi) Wilson of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, Deloy (Ellen) King of Windom, Minnesota, Duane (LuCinda) Wilson of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; nieces, Renea VanBockel (Robin) of Redfield, South Dakota, Katie Hein of Milford, Iowa, Mary Smith of Ohio, Jerri Lewis of Storm Lake, Iowa; sisters-in-law, Rieta Dobson of Redfield South Dakota, Willa Jean Dobson of Milford, Iowa and Ruby Stolp of Fort Dodge, Iowa; brothers-in-law, Howard (Joyce) Wilson of Milford, Iowa and Melvin (Betty) King of Windom, Minnesota; several great nieces and nephews; several great great nieces and nephews and many friends.
