Obituary of Harold Ford

Harold Guy Ford was born May 30, 1913 in Bayard, Iowa the son of Guy and Aleta (Neff) Ford. He was raised near Guthrie Center, graduating from Guthrie Center High School. From 1936 until entering the Service, he lived in Des Moines and worked for the Keck Company delivering groceries throughout Iowa. Harold was united in marriage to Josephine Albert on November 1, 1940 in Montgomery, Iowa. Harold served in the US Army during WWII until receiving an honorable discharge in 1945. Following his discharge, Harold and Josephine lived and farmed in Carroll and Guthrie County. In 1956, they moved to Dickinson County, where they farmed near Montgomery. Harold married Katherine Watkins in 1969 He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Spirit Lake, Iowa. Harold loved farming, horses, helping neighbors and spending time with family. Harold passed away Monday, May 24, 2011 at Hilltop Care Center in Spirit Lake at ninety-seven years of age. He is survived by a daughter, Carmen Maynard (Arnold) of Huntsville, Alabama; son, Jay Ford (Terri) of Denison, Iowa; granddaughters, Cindy Moore (Thomas), Carla Gross (Brian) and JoAnn Halvorsen (Ryan); grandson, Michael Ford; great grandchildren, Chase and Dylan Moore , Charlie Halvorsen and one sister, Wilma. He was preceded in death by a son, Michael Ford, wife, Josephine Albert Ford, wife Katherine Watkins Ford; three sisters and three brothers.
