Obituary of James Bass

James William Bass was born June 27, 1957 in Fredericksburg, Virginia, the son of William Edward E. Bass and May Madeline Gaylor Bass. He completed the eleventh grade at Algona High School and then enlisted in the United States Army. He served at Fort Leonard Wood in Missouri working with missiles until he was honorably discharged in September, 1975. Jim worked at Whittemore AMPI Creamery after he returned from the service and later worked at Stollers in Spirit Lake. In 1978, Jim worked for Northern Diecast until he was laid off in 2009. Due to illness, he was unable to continue working. Jim enjoyed camping and fishing from early childhood on into his teenage years. In the late 80's and early 90's, he enjoyed the hobby of building and flying radio controlled planes with his dad. Jim enjoyed getting together with family during the holidays and birthdays. He also enjoyed hanging out with his friends. Jim passed away August 4, 2011 at his home in Milford at fifty-four years of age. He is survived by his sister, Frances Edwina Lee (Bass) Hentges; step-sister, Loleta Barriage; brother-in-law, Archie Barriage; two nephews and one niece. He was preceded in death by his mother, May Madeline Bass in 1962; step-mother, Marge Bass in 2000; father, William E. Bass in 2009; grandmother, Frances K. Doss in 2001.
