He looked forward to September and the Clay County Fair where he worked the grandstand "east gate" for the past 28 years with his good friend, Bob. Burt had a smile for everyone and enjoyed being with family and friends. He loved fishing, mowing lawns, coffee time at O'Shucks and in earlier years, riding his Harley and his Farmall 400 on tractor rides around the area. Burt moved into Keelson Harbor last September. He enjoyed his new home, the new friends he met and all the staff there at Keelson. Burt passed away at Mercy Medical Center in Sioux City, Iowa at the age of sixty-eight.
