A memorial service for David "Burt" Simpson, age 68, of Milford will be held Saturday, June 1, 2019 at 10:30 AM at Turner Jenness Funeral Home in Milford. Visitation will begin one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. David Allan Simpson "Burt", was born on May 16, 1951 in Spirit Lake, Iowa to Donald and Mildred (Spoo) Simpson. He joined five siblings out on the Simpson farm east of Arnolds Park. Over the next few years, he became an older brother to four more siblings. David attended Arnolds Park Consolidated School, graduating in 1970. Those high school years at Arnolds Park is where he became known as "Burt." He and Jane Tuttle dated for many years, even becoming engaged, but due to her early passing, never married. November of 1984, he married Ardelle Faulkender of Langdon, they later divorced, but with that union he became step-dad to Lance and Cory. Burt went to work at Stylecraft Furniture right after high school. He worked there for 38 years before the company relocated. He mowed yards for many people throughout the Lakes Region, along with working part-time at the Milford Laser Car Wash up until his health prevented him from working. He looked forward to September and the Clay County Fair where he worked the grandstand "east gate" for the past 28 years with his good friend, Bob. Burt had a smile for everyone and enjoyed being with family and friends. He loved fishing, mowing lawns, coffee time at O'Shucks and in earlier years, riding his Harley and his Farmall 400 on tractor rides around the area. Burt moved into Keelson Harbor last September. He enjoyed his new home, the new friends he met and all the staff there at Keelson. Burt passed away at Mercy Medical Center in Sioux City, Iowa at the age of sixty-eight. He is survived by his step-sons, Lance (Pam) Faulkender of Spencer, Iowa and Cory (Brenda) Faulkender of Wichita, Kansas; step-grandchildren, Sydni, Ryouna, Braylie, Camden and Easton; brothers, Roger (Sue) of Milford, Iowa and Jim (Joan) of Fargo, North Dakota; sisters, Betty (Marv) Spieker of Montgomery, Iowa, Char Lighter, Deb Simpson and Judy (Jerry) Rohwer all of Milford; sisters-in-law, Louise Simpson of Spencer and Julie (Dick) Welle of Milford; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Gary and Dennis; sister, Connie Karl; brothers-in-law, Jay Lighter and Darrell Karl and fiancé, Jane Tuttle.
