Obituary of Lorraine Ruth Krieger

A funeral service for Lorraine Krieger, age 96, of Spirit Lake, formerly of Arnolds Park will be held Friday, June 7, 2019 at 10:30 am at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Spirit Lake, Iowa. Visitation will be on Thursday, June 6, 2019 from 5:00 to 7:00 pm with family present at Turner Jenness Funeral Home in Milford. Burial will be at Fairview Cemetery in Terril. Lorraine Ruth Krieger, the daughter of Thelicious and Mabel (Overboe) Thorson, was born on August 14, 1922 in Fort Dodge, Iowa. She graduated from New Hampton Public Schools and went on to college at Wartburg College and University of South Dakota to become a teacher. Lorraine taught the third grade in Terril for four years and then in Arnolds Park for twenty-eight years. On August 11, 1946, Lorraine was united in marriage to Raymond Leslie Krieger at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Humboldt, Iowa. The couple lived in Humboldt, Terril, Lake Park, Arnolds Park before moving to Spirit Lake in 2010. Together they were blessed with a daughter, Susan Rae and a son, Leslie Thomas. Lorraine was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Spirit Lake, a member of the American Legion Auxiliary in Milford and a lifetime member of the ISEA. She enjoyed outdoor actives, such as walking and swimming. She enjoyed cooking and trying out new recipes. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family and friends. Lorraine passed away on June 3, 2019 at Accura Healthcare in Milford at the age of ninety-six. Lorraine is survived by her daughter, Susan (Jim) Reiman of Milford; son, Leslie (Mary) Kreiger of Tucson, Arizona; grandson, Bradley (Amy) Reiman and their children, Noah, Gabe, and Eli of Spencer, Iowa; granddaughter, Sarah (Joel) Halverson, and their children, Will and Thomas of State Center, Iowa; three sisters-in-law and three brothers-in-law; many nieces, nephews and her extended family at Wel-Life of Spirit Lake. Lorraine is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Raymond; granddaughter, Jennifer Reiman; one sister, two sisters-in-law and three brothers-in law.
