Juliann Marie Lande was born May 31, 1949, to Joseph and Julia (Hampson) Lande in Estherville, Iowa. She lived on the family farm near Wallingford until 1961 when Joe found employment with the city of Okoboji.

Julie graduated from Arnolds Park High School in 1967. After high school Julie pursued a career in cosmetology for a time working for Bea Wilson. She then attended Iowa Lakes Community College pursuing a clerical curriculum followed by a short employment at New York Life in the Minneapolis area. Julie was not a "city girl" so she returned to Okoboji and found employment as the Deputy Treasurer for Dickinson County where she remained for approximately thirty-eight years. Julie's employment afforded her the opportunity to become acquainted with many county residents. Her shopping trips became very long at times due to these relationships. She loved people and was always interested in the lives of those whom she encountered. Her laugh was contagious, her snort hilarious and her smile could brighten a day.

Julie enjoyed a close relationship with her seven nephews many of whom were with her during her difficult hospitalization and at her bedside when she departed this earthly life. She loved "her boys".

Julie loved to sing around the piano with family or in the car with her gospel music loud enough to entertain others outside her car. She was a founding member of Spirit of Harmony chapter of Sweet Adelines where she loved to sing but made it clear she did not love to "dance".

Julie was baptized at Wallingford Lutheran and confirmed her faith at Grace Lutheran in Spirit Lake where she remained a lifelong member. She sang in the choir in her younger days and participated in sewing quilts with her church friends after her retirement.

Julie passed away July 25, 2019 at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, South Dakota at seventy years of age.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Charles and his wife, Gloria and Allen and his wife, Charleen; two nephews, Blaine and Phillip. She is survived by her sister, Patricia (Leonard) Holdorf; sister-in-law, Patsey; nephews, Brian Lande, Tom Lande, Tim Lande, Jeff Holdorf and Jeremy Holdorf; eleven great-nieces and great-nephews; five great-greats and many very special friends.
