Obituary of Gwendolyn Jean Beard

Gwendolyn Jean Beard was born March 23, 1926 to Frank Upchurch and Etoy (Barker) Upchurch in Apex, North Carolina Jean graduated from high school in 1944. She married James O. Beard and they spent their married life in Spirit Lake, Iowa and Raleigh, North Carolina. Four children were born to this union. Jean was a member of the Baptist Church. She loved her flowers and garden, traveling and taking train rides. Jean passed away Saturday, October 22, 2011 at Lakes Regional Healthcare in Spirit Lake at eight-five years of age. Survivors include a daughter Sue Loring of Clovis, California; sons Patrick Beard of Raleigh, North Carolina and Christopher Beard of Fort Walton Beach, Florida. She was preceded in death by her husband James and son Michael.
